The Sea Hath its Pearls

I have a photograph that appears to be exactly the same as The Sea Hath its Pearls by William Margetson. Does anyone know if this artisit ever created pictures from photographs. The photo appears to be the same as the painting in every detail, however it is a photograph of an actual female figure standing by the sea. Any significance?
