A Brit here who has absolutely fallen in love with the Bob Ross Technique - so much so that now's the time to launch my own website of my paintings - would love some feedback on this site and any suggestions on how to promote it? - cheers www.ayoubart.com

cheers jawfish - for the one and only comment, and i appreciate your nice comments about the web site. as for marriage..........well i think i missed my chance - the Bob Ross Inc and their attourney's are on my back with talk of civil damages and claims......all cos i listed a painting on e-bay and described it as using the Bob Ross Technique - apparently i'm being deceptive (!?). The President of Bob Ross Inc himself has said that when someone does a Bob Ross search on ebay, they should be guaranteed to find genuine Bob Ross Products, so they've had me suspended from e-bay and my listings have been removed - nice! So in the battle of Bob Ross Inc versus single parent trying to make a bit of money for Christmas I'm afraid the big guy has won! I have tried telling them that anyone buying one of my paintings will be getting genuine bob ross products - a canvas covered in bob ross oils, painted with bob ross brushes on a bob ross easel from a bob ross pallette even cleaned in bob ross cleaning fluid etc etc etc.... noy fair is it mate

Hi Sue, Sue and I have posted about this on quite a few forums. All I can say is if anyone is considering painting in the Bob Ross style, think twice. After you've spent hundreds of pounds on brushes, paints, videos, books and all other manner of BOB ROSS products, then finished your first painting, be careful if you want to sell your work. Bob Ross Inc. have recently been the engineers behind a web-wide witchunt whereby people advertising their work as BOB ROSS STYLE PAINTING, items such as canvases which have been advertised as SUITABLE FOR BOB ROSS METHOD, and in some cases even genuine BOB ROSS products such as tubes of paint have been penalized and suspended from trading on eBay and many other sites. People have also been threatened with legal action for using the Bob Ross name on their websites and forums. I myself can vouch for this as I am a Bob Ross enthusiast who has recently suffered at the hands of BOB ROSS INC. by being suspended from trading on eBay. You can read more details here: bobrossuk.proboards22.com/index.cgi?board=comments&action=display&thread=1103023673My advice is if you're going to start painting in the Bob Ross method, remember that you'll be locked only into using his products ("My technique won't work with other brands of oil color") and that the image projected by the late great Bob is now merely a facade used by the company to get your money. And if you try to make a little bit of cash to pay for more canvases, paints, and brushes, be very careful how you advertise your work. Their mean-spirited attitude in this matter has demonstrated to many of his former fans and enthusiasts that the company is just a business machine that doesn't care about it's customers. A far cry from the gentle souled and beloved man I admire so much. I'm certain Bob's generous nature would never allowed this kind of bullying if he were alive. Merry Xmas Bob Ross Inc.!!!

just an update - i tried again on ebay to list a tube of paint - i put it up for sale on christmas eve...... it was removed again on christmas day, however so far my ebay account is still in tact..... i asked our friend Elizabeth Joy Hodge, attourney for Bob Ross Inc. why she removed a tube of paint when there were so many others being sold..... i just received a reply.... for an attourney, she's become quite personal, and rude: Your recent listing on www.ebay.co.uk was a malicious attempt to use the intellectual property of Bob Ross, Inc. ("BRI") for your own selfish purposes, i.e. to sell your own painting by linking it to the reputation of Bob Ross, which is why we requested it be removed and further that you be investigated for possible expulsion from www.ebay.co.uk pursuant to their Verified Rights Owner Program as a repeat offender. Specifically, we object to your listing because while you know that your painting is not a Bob Ross product, by grouping it with the tube of Bob Ross oil paint, you surreptitiously used the Bob RossT trademark to advertise a concededly non-Bob Ross painting. You must use your own reputation as an artist to sell your works and not denigrate the goodwill of the Bob Ross name by listing your painting using his name to advertise it. All rights of Bob Ross, Inc. are hereby reserved cumulatively and not exclusively. Forbearance or temporary waiver does not constitute a continuing or permanent waiver nor guarantee of future waiver. I urge you to seek legal counsel for further clarification of intellectual property laws as I am prevented from communicating with you about this issue any further. Cordially, //s// Joy Elizabeth Hodge, Esq. mmmmmmmmmmm i have just replied to this, and explained that i am neither malicious, nor selfish, to keep her personnal comments to herself and to try and remain professional please. i also mentioned that the only one tarnishing Bob Ross and all he stood for is HER.........

Hello everyone,
Just put in a search for art forums and this site popped up. Sorry to hear about the Bob Ross thingie going on here and about the net.
You would think that a company that wants to promote BR would be happy that folks are using his name and products and giving him tons of credit for helping them create their art.
Sad that we live in a time that if Jesus had run a buisness you could be sued for saying"Jesus helped me become closer to God" by his company.

There is no such thing as Bob Ross Technique! He studied the Bill Alexander Technique! He was a student of his. That's where the technique came from! Everyone else are just copy cats, including Bob Ross. Once and for all, get it straight!

For all you Ross lovers, I really like bursting your bubble. Everything he did, he learned from "Bill Alexander". He created nothing! That includeds the pallet knife. All Alexander!

Wow! And I remember Bob's TV shows... voice soft, low, lulling tone... "And now we have the little deery peeking out the corner... right there... just a little stroke... there... ahhh."
Sue, I'm sorry to hear you've had such a tug -n war with this behemouth industry. Be careful with those products and take heed. We want to see plenty more of your illustrous and beautiful work.
Yeah, Sue, your site is up again on ebay!
