Hi, this is my first post and I guess i'll start off with some controversy - i truly believe that we are still very much in a modernist era. the idea of postmodernity and post colonialism are movement created by the universites for profs to justify their jobs and to contextualize themselves with the art world. three art movements in the last fifty years? come on. when was the last time you saw a new paiting of jesus christ in a museum? not that i'm christian - but everything in the gallery is still inresponse to the romantiscm wave - we're still in the modern era. your thoughts? elliotgrey www.elliotgrey.com

why oh why oh why, do people constantly crow on about movements?... they're not even important!!!! they have everything in common with space, time, and death, they mean NOTHING...they are nothing... art should be able to speak for itself... like it use to in times LOOOONNNGGG gone by!... the illustrative techique which was employed by these old masters, has been made REDUNDANT by today's F-ART WORLD... these techniques were important devices enabling the viewer to READ the particular piece and understand the narrative... without them the work means NOTHING, and the movement it belongs to is just an empty label...
...ART IS TRULY DEAD... which is why posts on this forum are scanty...
