Hello
I have a speaker installation which is opening on Friday January 7th at the
Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art in the public stairwell as part of the
MCA 12x12 artist series. It will be up until Jan 30th
I will also be giving a talk about the piece at the museum on Tuesday the 11th at 6:30 (its free)
"A Map of Transitory Monuments" employs repetitive electronic sounds which
move between 6 speakers in the MCA stairwell. The sounds blend and subtly
augment the existing day-to-day noise in this area of the museum, creating
an auditory map of the architecture which shifts in distance and perspective
from the listener as the piece continues. Some sonic interference will also
appear from time to time during the composition creating new "monuments" of
sound.
