As an aritist who prefers to magnify social unity, family union and warm relationships in my art, I am drawn by Kincaids quaint subjects. I would love to spend time in kincaid town. Yet I choose to go my own direction when invisioning a scene. I am awed that he is the one artist whose works have recieved one of the most massive yet successful marketing campaigns ever. Still now and then when a come upon a particular Kincaid I am still drawn into the scene unable to resist its freshness and warmth. Rather than belittle him I must tip my hat at a marketing venture that proved to be a stroke of genius. Mark Askew lhh.fimark.net

I am not an artist. I do appreciate art though. I think jeff kincaid should have directed his comments at bumblebeeboogie instead of mr. Stith. I for one enjoy Thomas Kincaid's paintings. Yes, he is a brilliant market manager of his work. But does any artist wish to fail? He is a very good painter of his style and i for one do appreciate what he does. I will say I am disturbed about one thing though. I feel due to his success, he has allowed his gift's importance to overshadow his appreciation of the gift. He bases his paintings on his Christian affiliation, which I applaude him for standing firm on his faith. But his ego has become greater than his gift. Is he talented? Yes, one of the most talented i have seen. But if you are going to have Christian values, then live it as well. How many times has he "given" away paintings for St. Jude's children research hospital? How many times has he given of his talents without reward? From what i understand, he demands payment for anything and everything he does. When he stands before God, will God compliment him for his paintings? Or, will Jesus compliment him on his heart and living his life as the example God wanted? In conclusion, these who would criticize him for his talent. let them instead put their efforts to their talents and showing he is not the only talented artist here. If they do not believe in God, that is their right. But let not them criticize us who do. They would not like us criticizing them or forcing our beliefs on them. If they do not like Thomas Kincaids works, then don't look at them.

Well said Andy,
Humility has always said mountains about a person all on its own. I'm no one to speak Bible studies, but isn't there a part about a rich man in church shouting about all the wealth he's sharing and a poor old woman in back that drops a penny from her needs into the coffers.
There is a message there.
Share a gift the right way.

Thank you Z,
If jeff or even thomas, if he reads these things, or anyone else wishes to comment to me personally about my statements, i can be reached at bamabasser62@yahoo.com I stand behind what i say. I am a simple man with basic tastes in what i like and christian values. I enjoy the beauty in our world. Thomas kincaid paints that beauty in a surreal setting, which most of us could dream of living in. I do enjoy his paintings and hope someday to be able to afford a print for my home.
I enjoy church, family and the outdoors, fishing primarily. Just so you know the kind of person i am to write what i have. One of the things which makes this country great is the ability to express our differences without fear of persecution. This forum is just one such example. May God bless.

Hiya Andy, Glad to see you checking back here ( I check back about once a week) As for myself, I'm about 80% honest ( I'm honest with people that are honest with me thats where the 80% comes in , 95% trustworthy ( I try) and maybe 98 to 99% a good person. Don't figure I'm 100% anything LOL. I like to draw and paint and if someone can earn a living at it more power to them( I just do it for fun). I like confidence in an artist but what I don't like is an artist that thinks he or she is a semi-god. Thats a complete turn off. Who gave them the ability in the first place? Well its just something for folks to think about. see ya later Z

I am a newbie here. And I am a newbie at showing myself as an artist.
But from many of the comments made at this forum about Thomas Kinkade, this is just a blog.
Many people, even of the Christian faith, become irrate in seeing someone of that faith reaping success. Mr. KinKade is not diluting God, neither taking wealth from the poor, or being the rich man that said he'd build more barns, storage, and have plenty.
Mr. KinKade being an artist and proclaiming his faith only shows what's in his heart. I believe an artist can only give what's in him. And God being a creator, a giver, and full of light... well, no wonder this "painter of light" has taken this route of sharing his work.
I've heard a testimony where a lady had some printed small cards of his paintings... she had been through a terrible car accident losing her husband. But each time she looked at a particular painting, she was encouraged and had peace. She was able to live another day.
There is life in God's Word or Scripture or those proverbial and postoral sayings he uses. We don't know how many people have been touched by those words combined with the paintings.
There's lots of support in the Bible on prosperity, being rich, and how to walk in it. There are no Scriptures supporting and encourging poverty. Humility, yes... but not poverty. Jesus came lowly and humbly... he did not live in poverty, neither had the mentality of a poverty ridden life.
And sharing or giving away his paintings? We don't know how long, how many times, or even who he's given his time, paintings, encouragement to others.
The Bible says, "You will know them by their fruit." And Mr. Thomas KinKade is fruitful in the Word, busy sharing his dream with us. All he wants is to share God's creation and His Word to bring light, life, and love.
Yep, bring on the sanguine... because I prefer love, goodness, kindness, loyality, gentleness, longsuffering, temperance, and patience anytime to selfishness, strife, anger, railings, hatred, etc.
To end this long, long note you guys have longsuffered with, I love his artwork. He's extremely gifted, talented, and intelligent. Sigh, there's always gonna be someone who loves something and someone who hates it. All artists have struggled with that balance. And in the real world, we do too.
To the painter of light... PAINT ON, MAN!!!
